2020 Thank You Card Design

It’s been a minute. This year has been a struggle, but I couldn’t let the time pass without putting up another Thank You card design for you! We’ve been through a lot, but there’s still so much to be grateful for.

Pandemic 2020 thank you card

Homeschooling was a lot for me to take on in the beginning. But I’m grateful that through the homeschooling experience, I was better able to see my son’s scholastic achievements. I have a son with special needs, he works so hard at school that when he comes home, he’s done. I had no idea how great he was at telling time or addition or sight words until this year. I’m grateful for that opportunity.

Not being able to attend conferences and workshops this year put me in a sour mood. I thrive off of social interaction. But I’m grateful that I was able to spend more time with my kids and slow down. I’m grateful that we could just enjoy the company of our family without the distraction of events and extracurricular activities.

Chris and I wanted to take the kids to Disneyland this year. We wanted to travel internationally, but this year had different plans. I’m grateful that we were able to explore our own wonderful neck of the woods enjoying the beauty and wonder that exists all around us.

I hope you find something, or better yet, someone to be grateful for. Send them a note! Click the link below to download it.

The time of year has come where it’s time for the annual Thank You freebie! I love doing this because it gives me a chance to work on styles and techniques I don’t always get to do on a regular basis. For this year, it meant I got to put the watercolor floral classes I’ve taken from Natalie Malan to use. I wanted to go for a slightly muted palette, but it only worked slightly. It’s like a bright, muted palette. ;)

Also, I feel like I must mention that this month completes the 10th year I’ve been blogging! I can’t believe it’s been that long. So much has changed: 6 moves, 3 children and a few career changes to say the least. I didn’t know I would be blogging this long. But here we are! ‘Tis the season for gratitude, so I may as well express that I’m so grateful for the opportunities that blogging and social media has given me. I’ve made dear friends, I’ve traveled, I’ve learned so much and I’ve felt the creative inspiration through the connections that I’ve made. It’s been pretty awesome. Will I still be here, writing in another 10? We shall see!

Check out the a video of my process here:

This year’s Thank you takes on two forms. One is a plain, 5.5×4.25 rectangle with cut lines for you to follow, the above is a suggestion. You can download the JPG and use Silhouette’s print & cut feature to make a gorgeous full-bleed card with a scalloped edge. See below for the tutorial!

You certainly don’t have to have a Silhouette in order to take advantage of this printable. Just click The download link below with the description “hand cut”. :) Just giving you some fun options.

But I’ve got TONS MORE ‘Thank You’s. Check out the whole list of past years’ printables below!

Want to learn calligraphy? Like the brush lettering I use here? Check out my class on Calligraphy.org. I’ll give you one-on-one instruction to help you get there. We start from the very basics, but because of the personal nature of the instruction we offer off-script learning for the more advanced letterer. Use code BRUSHLETTERING for a 10% discount on the class. :)

Printable: 2015 Thank You Cards

I’m so excited about this year’s Thank You Printable. Or should I say PrintableS, because I’ve teamed up with the fabulous Natalie Malan. We were in the same vender area at Pinners Conference two weeks ago when we came across this great idea. She’s amazing at watercolor florals and I can do some calligraphy, so we put our creative minds together and here we are!

The first design is a simple wreath with warmer colors. I played around with various banner ideas, but ultimately I liked the simpler text.

Each card can be printed as a postcard, double-sided (like above) or single-sided for a flat card to be mailed in an envelope.

Seriously, aren’t these florals beautiful!? Natalie sells prints in her shop and on Minted.com. You can also find a sweet watercolor kit (hello Christmas!) available in her shop.

The second one was screaming for an organic brush script so I played around with different styles. I chose this version of the text for the way the ascenders, descenders and flourishes play with the floral border. I like how the organic lines of the letters compliment the flourishes.

It’s that time of year again! Here’s another ‘Thank You’ card printable. I had a lot of fun with this one. I love the idea of making a wheat-inspired bouquet. Kind of reminds me of the fall harvest. Very indicative of the time of year around here.

I’ve been making lots of ‘Thank You’ cards for family and friends lately (so many things to thank them for!), so I thought I would make a printable that was in-line with the off-hand flourishes that I’ve been making lately.

The printable is a simple double-sided post card design that could be sent as a post card, or printed single-sided and used with an envelope for more formal sentiments.

I kept the design simple with just black and white line work. Embellish with sparkly pens, colored pencil, markers and more! Print out a bunch and let kids color and decorate at the Thanksgiving table! A great Thanksgiving-themed activity, if you ask me.

Inspired by this month’s entertainment theme for the Fiesta Movement, I wonder what does November mean to you? Is it full of food, family, movies and thanksgiving? Or is it just like every other month?

My November isn’t full of surf days and slow-mo photobooths (how brilliant is that idea?). The entire month took on a more spiritual tone when I was growing up. My mom really focused the whole month on gratitude and thanksgiving. Making sure the holiday wasn’t just some speedbump on the super-speedy raceway to Christmas.

I love that she protected Thanksgiving.

I want to guard it in my home, too. Christmas decor (not that I really have any) doesn’t show up until after our blessed Thanksgiving weekend. Neither does the music. Perhaps there’s so little Christmas music I actually like, I’d hate for it to be on repeat longer than 3 1/2 weeks.

How should we celebrate Thanksgiving? Is it just a day to be had towards the end of November where we eat more than we should have, nap and watch sports games? Or is it a day where we take stock in the life’s many blessings? I’ll be doing a little bit of both (minus sports, I don’t do sports).

istillloveyou-2013-thankyou-card-2

I encourage you to spend some time this month (we could all spare a half hour once a week, right?) to write a heartfelt thank you to someone who has inspired or helped you. To make things easy, I’ve designed “Thank You” postcard for you to print from home. I’ve done half the work for you. All you need is a pen and a stamp.

This month I’ll be working on writing more Thank You notes and prepping for a meaningful Thanksgiving celebration. Having several of these postcards on hand will help me achieve that.
