Refashion: Polka Dot Shirt

I’m starting to feel better about my sewing with a few successful projects under my belt these days.

Laura sent me this awesome navy polka dot top that needed a slight fit adjustment. It’s made of some sort of polyester knit fabric so it was a little bit slippery, but not as mischievous as the last one.

I didn’t have to take in the shoulders, it just needed shorter sleeves and a narrower bodice. I took it in by about 2 inches on each side, and cut off about 3 inches of sleeve. It’s a fantastic staple shirt that will go well with cardigans this winter, or with flowy skirts this summer.

I love the little keyhole in the back.

I’m pretty excited to party in my new shirt, can you tell?

Outfit details:

  • earrings: etsy
  • top: Laura, refashioned
  • necklace: Forever 21
  • belt: grandma’s hand-me-down
  • pants: Ross
  • boots: thrifted

Style: Teal and Cobalt Duds

I’m going for a monochrome vibe here. I can’t get enough of deep teal and cobalt blue. I think this combo is the new pink and red.

This top is my new favorite, it’s pleated with a peterpan colar and bishop sleeve. If it’s not on my body, it’s in the laundry.

I got these shoes on super sale at Target. They don’t match much in my wardrobe, but they’re darling!

I made this bracelet at CRAFT night. I love the metallic finish. Make one with this tutorial.

Outfit details:

  • top: Forever 21
  • necklace: Ann Taylor Loft
  • pants: Ross
  • shoes: Target
  • Bracelet: handmade

Style: Silver And Blue

No make up and crazy hair today. I’m going to a clothing swap tonight so I’ll probably get make up on before I go. Maybe. I’m itching to layer with sweaters soon, but I have to remind myself to enjoy these warm days of late summer/early fall. We’re in for a long winter, up here in the mountains.

  • necklaces: Forever 21, twig creative (I think)
  • top: thrifted
  • belt: hand-me-down from grandma
  • pants: Ross
  • shoes: c/o Blowfish

I sorta want to foil the tips of these shoes in silver. Not sure how well they would wear, but the idea sounds nice.

My grandma has killer taste. She turned 88 on Sunday, but she still acts like a 70 year old.

Keeping it Real. Always.

This is the status quo today. button up, sweater, old jeans, no makeup and bare feet. I wore so many cute outfits this week, but today is the one day I muster up the energy to take pictures. This is as real as it gets.

  • shirt: thrifted
  • sweater: Shade
  • jeans: Ross

Lazy Tuesday

It took me until 3pm to get showered & dressed today. It feels like I’ve been hit by a ton of bricks. Seriously, could I be more lazy? Oh yeah, I could’ve not fed & clothed the kids.

  • scarf: New York, c/o Shop at Home
  • sweater: Lands End, gift
  • top: Walmart, $5
  • jeans: Ross, $15?
  • shoes: thrifted, $5

TOTAL: $25

Fun fact: this was shot at 3200 ISO, f3.3, 1/125. I really love having a camera that can handle these truly dark & grey days.
