Quick, No-Sew Alteration

I couldn’t find a better before photo of this shirt, but I’m sure you get the idea. This shirt was originally a long-sleeved turtle neck I got from DownEast Basics’s warehouse store for $3.

  • I just chopped off the sleeves
  • rolled the sleeves so you don’t see the raw edge
  • chopped off the turtle neck
  • gathered the neckline with a safety pin

It took 5 minutes. I think I’ll get a little more use out of this shirt now. Also, Chris will like this shirt better now. He hates turtle neck shirts.

Oh! They had a shirt just like your redo at Old Navy today. 50% off all clearance. I think it ended up being less that $5! Thrifty!

Oh so cute! Will you make the gathering at the neckline more permanent than a paper clip? I just bought an oversized turtleneck at old navy yesterday (just like the person above me!) for under a dollar!

    3. Nice work! I’ve actually done a couple blogs about transforming turtlenecks into something less prim:

A turtleneck really does know how to make you feel like a chump.

I think most men hate turtlenecks! This is adorable though!! I love how easy it was to make! and I like the look folding the sleeves gives.
